The Pakistan Business Task Force (PBTF), an initiative of the Employers’ Federation of Pakistan (EFP), is a strategic platform dedicated to enhancing private sector engagement in Pakistan’s United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF 2023-27). PBTF serves as a bridge between the business community and the UN Resident Coordinator (UNRC), fostering collaboration to accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Pakistan.

PBTF was established in April 2022 under the leadership of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and EFP, with founding members including key business associations such as

PBTF addresses critical challenges faced by the private sector in contributing to the SDGs, such as

The PBTF: Roadmap for Business Engagement in the UNSDCF Process

PBTF, under the EFP, plays a pivotal role in bridging the private sector with the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). Below are the Key Entry Points for PBTF to effectively engage in the UNSDCF process and drive Pakistan’s progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Engage in policy discussions with the government to align business practices with SDGs
Advocate for business-friendly regulations that incentivize sustainable investments
Promote awareness of SDGs and UNSDCF among private sector stakeholders
Conduct training programs on SDG integration for businesses, especially SMEs
Develop educational materials (guidelines, toolkits, case studies) to help companies adopt ESG/SDG-aligned practices
Partner with media to highlight private sector contributions to SDGs
Facilitate private sector investments in green technologies, renewable energy, and sustainable agriculture
Encourage climate finance (e.g., green bonds, impact investments) for SDG-aligned projects
