The Pakistan Business and Disability Network (PBDN), in collaboration with the Employers’ Federation of Pakistan (EFP) and supported by Sightsavers, hosted an Awareness-Raising Session for Employers on Disability Inclusion at the Mövenpick Hotel, Karachi. The session brought together over 40 organizations from diverse sectors to boost confidence in hiring persons with disabilities and to promote inclusive workplaces in Pakistan.
The event opened with Syed Nazar Ali, Secretary General of EFP, who highlighted the alignment of disability inclusion with business interests. Majyd Aziz applauded the collaborative efforts of EFP-PBDN and Sightsavers, encouraging employers to focus on the strengths of persons with disabilities and support their professional growth.
Jamila Yar of Sightsavers delivered a technical presentation on Disability Fundamentals, Workplace Barriers, and the Business and Ethical Rationale for Disability Inclusion, equipping participants with actionable strategies.
The session also featured success stories of Mr. Irfan ul Haq from DHL, Mobeen Chughtai of Soorty Textile, and Mustafa Ahmed of Artistic Milliners, showcasing the benefits of disability-inclusive hiring practices. Participants engaged in group activities to reflect on challenges and explore effective approaches to workplace inclusion.
The session concluded with a strong commitment to advancing disability inclusion and fostering an inclusive employment landscape across Pakistan.
