Economic Council

About Us:

The EFP Economic Council (EFP-EC), serves as the premiere think tank of the Apex Body of Manufacturers of Pakistan. It was officiated on November 13, 2019, six months following the May 13, 2018 press conference of its critical EFP 2030 Economic Vision publication. The main purpose behind the formation of this council is to facilitate in the resuscitation of Pakistan’s industrial base on war-footing basis, as envisioned by its founder and chair, Mr. Ismail Suttar.

The fundamental notion that drives the operation of the council is the voicing of concerns put forward by local manufacturers and exporters. These are then comprehensively scrutinized and brainstormed through consultation sessions and seminars and then the results are forwarded to the relevant ministries in the form of position papers, findings and policy recommendations.

All associated members work assiduously to highlight “Pakistan First’ in forums around the world. The multitude of research publications, exhibitions, business councils and foreign trade dialogue initiatives, serve as testament to the high level of commitment by the consortium of economists, researchers, industrialists, commercial trade officers, entrepreneurs, and international trade experts that make up the council.

In July, 2019, the EFP-EC signed an agreement with the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) in London, UK and has set to establish a Commonwealth Conglomerate in the heart of London. The motivation behind all these initiatives is the pure resoluteness of the incumbent Pakistani government in revitalizing the business climate to accommodate foreign and local investors. Our diplomatic missions abroad are engaging tactfully to create new trade channels between Pakistani businessmen and the Commonwealth and African regions.

We firmly believe that our efforts will allow for new vistas of investment and trade opportunities to emerge, which shall in turn strengthen trade ties of Pakistan with the world, as well as achieve our SDG targets for a prosperous, egalitarian and industrialized Pakistan.
