‘PRISM and Nurah Doll Project on Disability Inclusion’

At Soorty Enterprises, we believe that true progress lies in embracing the strengths of every individual, regardless of their abilities. Our commitment to disability inclusion is not just a moral imperative but a strategic advantage that drives innovation and growth. Through two of our projects — PRISM and the Nurah doll — we are breaking down barriers and ensuring Persons with Disabilities become well-integrated and productive members of our society.

Nurah – A Doll on a Mission

The Nurah doll represents a groundbreaking collaboration with Pakistan’s differently-abled artisans under the Inclusive Artisans’ Marketplace (IAM). This isn’t just a handcrafted doll; it’s a symbol of diversity, celebrating differences in abilities, skin tones, ethnic backgrounds, body shapes, and gender identities. Nurah opens up vital conversations about acceptance and inclusivity, helping to shape a more compassionate and open-minded worldview.

Crafted entirely by individuals with various disabilities, Nurah Dolls embody the essence of intersectional identity inclusion. Soorty partnered with IAM to produce 400 Nurah dolls, which have been used for various impactful purposes, including corporate gifting, awareness-raising, and donations to worthy causes.

PRISM – Inclusion in Action

Our PRISM project, launched in 2020 in partnership with NOWPDP, is designed to empower differently-abled individuals by providing targeted vocational training and employment opportunities. In its initial phase, we trained and hired individuals with hearing and speech disabilities for roles in our dry processing department. Building on this success, we are expanding our efforts through continued collaboration with NOWPDP and a new partnership with the Karachi Down Syndrome Program (KDSP), further broadening our scope of inclusion.

At Soorty Enterprises, we are not just advocating for change; we are creating it. Through PRISM and the Nurah doll, we are setting new industry standards for disability inclusion and social sustainability.

Call for Action - A Pledge Majyd Aziz, Past President EFP

“Times have changed; we must recognize that PWDs are an extremely important segment of our society and must be fully integrated.

It is our collective responsibility to inspire and support PWDs, ensuring they always have hope”

“The issue lies not with disabled people themselves but with a system that fails to support them adequately.

Due to 85 percent of the population, 15 percent population is forced to be disabled”
